The Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is a membership based organization made up of parents and guardians of children as well as school staff. It works to help support school staff create the best possible environment to enable our children's learning at the school.

The Francis Scott Key PTA is a part of the Second District of California PTA, which covers San Francisco. The second district is part of the California PTA, which in turn is part of the National PTA.

The PTA has a long history of advocacy to improve the education, health and welfare of children and youth with deep roots at the national, state and local levels. The PTA has been responsible for groundbreaking laws and guidelines such as establishing kindergarten, instituting school lunch programs and supporting school bus safety regulations.

The PTA is administered by a
board of elected and appointed officers. Along with various PTA committees they manage the business of the PTA including ongoing initiatives as well as specific events throughout the year. All of these programs are made possible by the volunteering by the many families of the school as well as the donations by families and community organizations.
