Get to Know the FSK PTA

We invite you to join the PTA (Parent Teacher Association) for the 2011-12 school year. The PTA works to support the students, families, teachers and administrators at Francis Scott Key and to build community, and we need your membership and participation to succeed. The public school system is overburdened and underfunded and cannot function without the financial and community support provided by YOU

The PTA has a long history of advocacy to improve the education, health and welfare of children and youth with deep roots at the national, state and local levels. The PTA has been responsible for groundbreaking laws and guidelines such as establishing kindergarten, instituting school lunch programs and supporting school bus safety regulations.

Here are some of the ways the PTA enriches the learning environment at Francis Scott Key,

 Sponsors programs like Reading is Fundamental (R.I.F.) where children get 3 free books.

 Invites authors to do in-school readings of their children’s books.

 Organizes additional after school enrichment classes such as chess and Mandarin.

 Provides grants to teachers.

The FSK PTA also helps to organize and fund a variety of events including,

 Movie Night

 Halloween Parade/Pumpkin Patch

 International Day/Potluck

 Chinese New Year Celebration

 Family Fun Day

 Kindergarten Playdates

Get Involved in Your Child’s Education!

Complete the application below and return with membership dues of $20.00 for one parent member and $30 for two parent members payable in cash or check made out to FSK PTA.These dues also provide membership in the National PTA, the California State PTA and the 2nd District PTA (for SF Public Schools).

You will then receive a membership card.

 Regularly attend PTA meetings. Bring your ideas and your voice and have a direct impact on the educational policies at Francis Scott Key.

 Volunteer for PTA sponsored activities. Meet other parents and teachers and work together to make each event a success.

Joining the PTA does not mean that you have to attend the meetings or become involved but we welcome and depend on your participation!
